House Guide
Welcome to BedarraLux, a truly off-grid luxury retreat.
The entire property—including the house, pool and all amenities—is powered by a stand-alone solar energy system with battery storage. Our fresh water is naturally sourced from the island and rainwater, then filtered and purified using advanced infrared UV treatment to provide clean, safe drinking water throughout the home.
To help us operate sustainably and ensure a reliable supply of power for everyone, we ask that you use electricity thoughtfully during your stay.
Energy Use

Hairdryers are not provided, as they place a significant demand on our off-grid power system.

Griller
The electric griller is a high-powered appliance. Please use it thoughtfully and only when needed. Once finished, switch it off promptly to help conserve energy.
Water
Our fresh water is a precious natural resource. It is collected from rainfall and the island's natural water supply, then filtered and purified using an advanced infrared UV treatment system. The water is safe to drink and of excellent quality.
We kindly ask that you use water wisely so this valuable resource can be enjoyed throughout your stay.

In the Event of Low Battery Power
While our solar and battery system is designed to comfortably power the home, extended periods of cloudy or wet weather may reduce available battery capacity.
Should this occur, a backup generator is available to supplement the power supply. As the generator is audible, our aim is to avoid using it wherever possible, allowing everyone to enjoy the peace and tranquillity that makes Bedarra Island so special.
By using electricity thoughtfully—switching off lights when not required and avoiding the use of multiple high-powered appliances at the same time—you'll help us minimise the need for the generator and preserve the quiet island experience for all.

Grocery Delivery
To make your arrival as effortless as possible, we recommend ordering your groceries online from Woolworths Wongaling Beach before your stay.
Simply schedule your order for collection, and the water taxi can collect your groceries and transport them to Bedarra Island along with you and your luggage (please advise the water taxi operator in advance).
This allows you to arrive with everything you need, so you can settle in immediately and begin enjoying your island escape.

Solar-Powered Living
BedarraLux operates entirely off-grid using solar power and battery storage. Please use electricity thoughtfully by turning off lights, fans and air conditioning when not required, and avoid using multiple high-powered appliances at the same time.
Water Conservation
Our water is sourced from rainfall and the island, then purified for drinking. As with all island communities, water is a precious resource. We ask guests to use it thoughtfully during their stay.
Wildlife
You are sharing the island with native birds, butterflies, reptiles and marine life. Please admire wildlife from a respectful distance and never feed or disturb native animals.
Smoking
Smoking and vaping are not permitted inside the house. If smoking outdoors, please dispose of cigarette butts responsibly and be mindful of fire risk.
Fire Safety
Open flames, fireworks and campfires are strictly prohibited. During the dry season, fire danger can increase rapidly. Please exercise care when using the BBQ or griller and ensure it is switched off after use.
Ocean Safety
Conditions on the ocean can change quickly. If swimming, snorkelling or boating, always check the weather and tide conditions beforehand. During the warmer months (generally November to May), marine stingers may be present, so please follow local advice and wear appropriate protective clothing if required.
Emergency Information
A first aid kit is provided within the house. In an emergency, call 000 if mobile coverage is available, then contact us as soon as possible so we can assist.

Your water taxi will collect you from the beach at the pre-arranged time. We recommend having your luggage packed and ready a few minutes before departure.
